I was recently introduced to Block Island Organics and their line of skincare products. The company, inspired by Block Island in Rhode Island, understands the importance of having fun in the sun, but they encourage us all to remember the effects it can have on our skin. Therefore, the company emphasizes protecting your skin during sun exposure and replenishing it afterwards. While skincare is important, it can be extremely difficult to find products without harmful ingredients. Block Island Organics uses organic, natural ingredients whenever possible. In addition, their products are cruelty free, gluten free, vegan friendly, reef friendly, and have an EWG rating of 1. I have yet to try their sunscreens or moisturizer, but after using their Organic Purifying Facial Cleanser the past week I am a huge fan.

Here are some reasons I loved the product:

INGREDIENTS
Block Island Organics clearly lists the ingredients of each product on their website. This makes it easy to determine whether or not a product will work for you. This particular face wash is full of botanical ingredients and antioxidants. All of their products are free of the following harmful ingredients: parabens, sulfates, petrochemicals, phthalates, dyes and artificial fragrances.

EFFECTIVE
I really enjoy trying out new products with natural/organic ingredients. Unfortunately, many of them are a let down because they simply aren’t effective. This was not the case with Block Island’s Purifying Facial Cleanser! It lived up to my expectations and is the perfect cleanser to carry around in your beach bag all summer. Not only is it capable of rinsing off a full face of make-up, but it’s also refreshing for you skin if you’ve been in the hot sun all day.

GENTLE
Between sunscreen, wind, sand, water, and sun exposure our faces take a beating during the summer months. That’s why I really appreciated the fact that the Purifying Facial Cleanser was able to effectively clean my skin without being abrasive or drying. So often I want to love products, but they leave my face feeling dry and irritated. Because this product lacks harsh chemicals, I think it would be great for sensitive skin types. Furthermore, I feel that this product will prove to be great during the winter months as well!

FRAGRANCE
The fact that the Purifying Facial Cleanser lacks artificial fragrance is a big bonus for me. Being a frequent migraine sufferer, I am ALWAYS looking for products that don’t have strong artificial scents because they tend to trigger headaches. It’s a really hard thing to get away from because they seem to be in everything. This cleanser does, however, have the most pleasant orange scent. I love that it’s refreshing without being overpowering!

  14. Have never heard of this brand before so thanks for the post. Really interested in trying their sunblock! Have yet to switch over to an organic brand for that.
